The Village of Becoming
Dear Black Women in Italy is a supportive system, a runway, and a collective voice for Black women navigating life across Italy and beyond. We are a community dedicated to the art of “Delulu Living”—the radical act of reclaiming our joy through leisure, travel, and authentic connection. Whether through winery retreats in the mountains of Arco or curated networking events, we provide a space where corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and mothers can rediscover their excellence. We serve as a mirror of self-becoming, fostering a village where like-minded peers exchange knowledge and grow together in sisterhood.
Our Story
It came to life in what I would call the most random way ever: on the streets of TikTok. Yep, that’s where it all started. I had posted a video sharing my opinion that Black women should do more “fun stuff”—to truly live life and enjoy ourselves. In my experience, Black women are rarely seen doing “random fun things” as part of their lifestyle—like visiting wineries, Sip & Paint, traveling, or hitting the gym.
After posting that content, it went viral with thousands of likes and comments. The first message that caught my eye said: “You are a Black woman too—you start it!” Others suggested creating a WhatsApp group. In the heat of the moment, a group was created, and over 300 women joined instantly.
In that moment, I realized how serious the need was. I decided to host the first-ever event called THE DEAR BLACK WOMEN IN ITALY—a place where Black women come alive, meet like-minded peers, and exchange knowledge.
Beyond our main events, we do many things for the pleasure of our community. We recently hosted a mini-trip to the mountains of Arco for a winery weekend, tasting different wines at a beautiful resort. Essentially, it’s about Black women doing the “random” things society doesn’t usually associate us with.
I choose to call it DELULU LIVING.
